To avoid the heat and the big crowds, we start today's sightseeing early morning with a visit to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The whole palace was built on a huge rock at a height of 200 meters but nowadays only remains are well maintained. It is challengeable to climb the rock, but the breathtaking sceneries from the top make every step worthwhile. Drive to Polonnaruwa afterwards. The ruins of Polonnaruwa spread on a very large scale, which is quite impressive. You will spend the whole afternoon exploring this historical site to learn and understand the brilliant culture of old Sri Lanka. Getting around the city by bike or Tuk-tuk is helpful to cover as much ruins as possible in a short period of time. The bike rental service can be found at the main entrance of the site. After the whole day tour, we will transfer you back to the hotel in Sigiriya.
