New Wuchang Train Station to Put into Use as of Dec. 19th

After about one and a half years' expansion since last June, the waiting rooms and platforms of Wuchang Train Station will be put into use as of December 19th, 2007. This station will be the largest train station in Central China.

At present, the station has 12 waiting rooms with a capacity of 8,000 persons. Six moving staircases will be operated for passengers to get to the waiting rooms on the second floor. Three of the five platforms will be opened this time. A rain-proofing shed without columns has been constructed between the waiting rooms and the platforms to prevent passengers from the wind and the rain.

During the spring festival period, the ticketing hall will also be in service to relieve the crowding.
