Chinese Folk Sports Paper-cuts Exhibition Held in Warsaw

News from Xinhua News, Chinese Folk Sports Paper-cuts Exhibition is held in Warsaw as of November 27th, 2007. It will last until January 8th, 2008.

On the theme of 'Ribbon Cutting for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games', this exhibition presents 60 pieces of fine paper-cuts to show the scene of 60 Chinese representative competitive folk games to give a general introduction to Chinese folk sports.

Beijing: Ski Resorts to Open

The ski resorts in Beijing will be opened to the public in succession from late November to early December.

This year, the admission fees of all the ski resorts are almost the same as those of the last year, ranging from CNY 100 every two hours to CNY 300 per day. At the same time, most ski resorts present some preferential activities to welcome the 'Ski Season'. For example, Yunfoshan Ski Resort only charges visitors CNY 20 from November 25th to December 5th. Badaling Ski Resort will be free of charge on the first day of its opening.

Beijing: Int'l Chinese Antiques Fair to Open on Nov. 30th

Beijing International Chinese Antiques Fair will be held at the Golden Hall of Beijing Hotel from November 30th to December 4th.

This fair will display over 100 pieces of exhibits divided into eight categories, including bronzes, porcelains, lacquers, jade wares and silk products and so on. Most of the exhibits are cultural heritages that were lost to oversea countries hundreds of years ago. Among them, the most valuable ones are the four animal heads once belonged to the Old Summer Palace (Garden of Perfection and Light), including 'pig head', 'ox head', 'monkey head' and 'tiger head. Besides, the bottle sets and the jade seal of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) are also worth visiting.

Visitors can book the tickets between 10:00 to 16:00 from December 1st to 4th and then buy it in the fair. Visitors can also go to Beijing Repository of Cultural Relics in Zhihua Temple to buy the tickets. There will be 300 tickets for sale every day, and the ticket price is CNY 200.

2007 Hong Kong WinterFest to Start on Nov. 30th

2007 Hong Kong WinterFest is to start on November 30th, and it will last until January 1st, 2008.

Then, the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon will be decorated with brilliant lights. The main malls and restaurants in central Hong Kong, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui will present a series of marvelous performances. On the New Year Eve, over 40 high buildings of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon will show the prosperity of Hong Kong by the brilliant lights to welcome the New Year in co-operation with the fireworks.

In addition, all of the shops and restaurants will provide preferential goods and food during the festival, and the Disneyland Park and the Ocean Park both will put on some special activities to celebrate the festival.

Yichang Sanxia Airport Approved to Open up

Located in the suburban area of Yichang City, Hubei Province, Sanxia Airport has been approved to open up by China official government on November 25th, 2007. Thereafter, oversea tourists can fly to Three Gorges through international flights run by China airlines.

After the opening up, Sanxia Airport will be firstly open to international flights operated by China airlines and then to foreign airlines. It plans to open flights to South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan in succession during the following year.

The Seventh Chongli Int'l Skiing Festival to Start

On the morning of November 24th, 2007, the opening ceremony of the Seventh Chongli International Skiing Festival was held in Dolomiti Mountain Resort, Chongli County, Hebei Province. This festival will last until April 10th, 2008.

Chongli County of Zhangjiakou City is blessed with skiing resource, with four 4 well-equipped ski resorts covering an area of 600 square meters (148 acres).

During the festival, a series of activities will be held, including ice and snow entertainment activities, economic communications and cultural activities. Then, some foreign skiing athletes will present their excellent performances. At the same time, there will also be Italian local customs shows interspersed in the festival.

Urumqi-Ashgabat Air Route to Open as of Dec. 18th

Xinjiang Branch Company of China Southern Airlines will open regular flights between Urumqi and Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan, as of December 18th, 2007.

Meanwhile, after the opening, Xinjiang Branch Company will offer special preferential air tickets in the first month. The ticket price of a single trip is CNY 1,700, while the normal price is CNY 2,840. The preferential ticket price of a round trip is only CNY 3,150. Group passengers of over ten persons can even enjoy a more favorable price of CNY 2,900 per person for a round trip. One in 16 group passengers will be free of charge. Tickets prices for children and infants are 75% and 10% of the preferential full ticket price.

Sichuan: Emei Mountain Offers Preferential Treatment as of Nov. 15

Visitors of Emei Mountain with half and full price tickets can ski on the ski resort for one hour free of charge from November 15th, 2007 to March 15th, 2008. It takes visitors about two hours' time to get to Emei Mountain from Chengdu by bus.

Shanghai-Brisbane Direct Air Route to Opened as of Nov. 21st

China Eastern Airlines will open Shanghai-Brisbane direct air route, passing via Melbourne, as of November 21st, 2007. It will be the first direct air route between Shanghai and Brisbane of Australia.
