Chengdu: Gourmet & Tourism Festival to Start on Oct. 26th

It's reported that Chengdu Gourmet and Tourism Festival will be held from October 26th to November 8th.

Enjoying the laudatory title "nature's storehouse", Chengdu attracts thousands of visitors all the time, with its delicacies, landscapes and beauties.

During the festival, six urban sections will be set up to fully show the delicacies and culture of Chengdu. Besides the urban areas, six other theme sessions will also present visitors colorful food activities, including the 'Coarse Food Grain Culture' of Wan'an Town, the 'Heath Preserving and Gourmet, Recreating in Dujiangyan' of Dujiangyan City, the 'Hakka Gourmet Display' of Luodai Town, the 'Tasting Traditional Food, Experiencing Exotic Flavors' of Wenjiang County, the 'River Food' of Xinjin County, and the 'Eating in Chengdu, Tasting in Pixian, Bean Paste of Pixian, the Spirit of Sichuan Cuisine' of Pixian County.

Meanwhile, then, over 200 restaurants in the six sessions will present favored dishes which just cost visitors CNY 1 for each.

The Fifth Macau Mazu Culture Tourism Festival to Held

News from Xinhua News, the Fifth Macau Mazu Culture Tourism Festival is to be held from October 17th to 21st in Macau.

To make this festival novel and diverse, Chinese Mazu Foundation of Macao invites its supporters from different inland cities and provinces every year. This year, the supporters are Jiangsu Overseas Friendship Association and Shanghai Taoist Association.

During the festival, Chinese Mazu Foundation of Macao will present Mazu's Gold Body Patrolling, the Sacrificing Rite of Guanyin, Mazu Fiesta, lion dances as well as folk song and dances performances. Shanghai Taoist Association will send Taoists to host the praying ceremony and present Taoist music, and Jiangsu Overseas Friendship Association will bring with book and painting exhibitions and brilliant performances featuring the south of the Yangtze River.

Beijing: the Fourth Apple Culture Festival to Start as of October 20th

The Fourth Apple Culture Festival will be held from October 20th to November 10th in Changping District, Beijing.

Then, there will be 100,000 tickets given to visitors for free, among which about 30,000 will be for the 1,500 fruit farmer families to present to visitors coming to their orchards. Changping District will hold Apple Exhibition in the Jingshan Park on October 20th, when over 20,000 tickets will be presented. Besides, some other tickets will be given for free in the opening ceremony of the Apple Culture Festival on November 2nd.

This ecotourism activity is made up of 15 special activities, including the opening ceremony, apple, culture, gym, tourism, and investment inviting. It will last one month from October 15th to November 15th. The 100,000 favored visitors can choose any day of the month to have an experience of the ecotourism personally.

Air China to Open Direct Flight between Beijing and Athens

Air China is to open a direct air route between Beijing and Athens on November 28th, 2007. It will be the first direct air route between China and Greece.

Flight CA943 for this route will take off at 08:40 every Wednesday and Sunday from Beijing, and get to Dubai at 13:10, where the flight will stop for one and a half hours before continuing its navigation. Finally, the flight will reach the terminal at 17:50. The returning flight – CA944 will leave Athens at 09:30 every Monday and Thursday, and land in Beijing at 05:20 the next morning.

Ship Ticket of Yichang-Chongqing Upstream Cruise Rises by CNY 25 as of Oct. 12th

The starting point of Yichang-Chongqing Upstream Cruise is moved to the Nine Dock of Yichang from Maoping Harbor as of October 12th. Then, the ship ticket will be adjusted up by CNY 25 for the cruise.

As a result, the route of Yichang-Chongqing Cruise across the Three Gorges Dam and the Gezhouba Dam will be lengthened by over 50 kilometers (31 miles). After the change, it will take another eight hours to finish traveling Yichang-Chongqing Cruise. In other words, the original 7-day round trip of this cruise will be changed into an 8-day travel. While, the ship ticket price of Yichang-Chongqing Downstream Cruise will remain unchanged.

The Fifth Festival of Nanhai Guanyin Culture, Putuoshan, Held

Approved by State Administration of Religious Affairs, the Fifth Festival of Nanhai Guanyin Culture is being held on Putuoshan, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province from October 9th to 14th.

Located on a small island of only twelve square kilometers, Putuoshan is located in the southeastern sea areas of Zhoushan Islands in Zhejiang province. As the Buddhist Kingdom on the sea, it is one of the four famous Buddhist Mountains in China, well-known as a Buddhist Guanyin Temple both at home and abroad.

With 'Free life, merciful thoughts' as the theme, various activities will be held during the festival, including Guanyin Fast, Preaching and Lighting Lights, Consecration of the Duobao Pagoda, Putuoshan Culture Forum and so on. Besides, some other supporting activities will also be held such as essay writing, photography contests, graphic arts and Buddhist craftworks exhibition. In the end, this festival will be ended with a stage play of Guanyin.

Beijing: Red Maples Festival of Fragrant Hills to Held on Oct. 12th

Red Maples Festival of Fragrant Hills, Beijing, will begin on October 12th, and it will last until November 4th. Then, visitors with yearly, season and monthly tickets will be allowed to enter the fragrant mountain park during the stated period of time.

On the fragrant hills, there are altogether 140,000 maple trees covering an area of 1,400 mu (231 acres). The trees belong to eight categories, including 14 species.

During the festival, the admission fee is CNY 10. Visitors with yearly, season and monthly tickets can enter the park during 06:00~09:00 or 16:00~18:30, if they choose to admire the red maples at weekends, on October 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th, and November 3rd and 4th. Meanwhile, there will be guides serving the visitors free of charge during the weekends.

Shanghai: Maglev Trains to Operated for a Longer Time as of Next Week

News from Xinhua News, the operating time of the Maglev Trains in Shanghai will be changed from 07:00~21:00 to 06:45~21:30 as of the coming Monday, with 109 runs every day. After the change, the Maglev Trains will just meet the last run of the Subway Line 2, which will provide much convenience with travelers to get to and to leave the Pudong International Airport.

Xian: Evening Fountain Show on the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square Starts Earlier

With the approaching of the winter in Xian, the Evening Fountain Show on the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square will start at 20:30 as of October 10th, half an hour earlier than that of the summer.

After the adjustment, the new performing schedule is as follows:
From Monday to Friday, there will be two performances every day, respectively at 12:00 and 20:30. While, Tuesday is the routine examining and repairing time, so there will be only one performance at 20:30 in the evening.

On Saturday, Sunday and other national holidays, there will be five performances at 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 and 20:30.

The 4th East Asia International Travel Fair is to be held in Star-sea Convention & Exhibition Center, Dalian City, from October 19th to 21st.
