    Entry Belmopan/San Ignacio

    We will be meeting you at the airport. As soon as you exit the main passenger doors to the public areas, we will be transferring you to Cayo area hotel for check-in.

    Cayo/Caracol/Mountain Pine Ridge/San Ignacio

    Transfer to the Chiquibul Forest Reserve for a visit to the famous Maya site of Caracol (Maya for Snail), the largest Maya city in Belize. Canaa, the largest and most impressive temple at this site is still the highest structure in the country. Picnic lunch while at Caracol. In the afternoon you will continue the exploration in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, with stops made at Rio Frio Caves and time for a quick swim at the Rio On bathing pools. Return to your Cayo area lodge.

    San Ignacio/caves/Mountain Pine Ridge/San Ignacio

    Full day tour of Rainforest Medicine Trails. As you walk along well defined trails, your guide will point out plants and herbs once used by the Maya and still used by Belizeans today for medicinal purposes. Next tour stop is the Che Chem Ha Cave site in the Vaca Falls area. This cave contains enormous Maya pottery untouched for thousands of years.  Return to area hotel.

    Cayo area

    Morning horseback riding tour. Ride through rainforest trails, open savannahs, and across small subsistence farms to the unexcavated site of Buena Vista, a private estate of a Maya king. Then ride down to the Mopan River for a refreshing swim. Afternoon tour of Barton Creek Cave. Glide through a remote underground water cave system in a canoe equipped with powerful spotlights. It is believed that the Maya once used this cave for ritual burials. Return to area hotel.

    San Ignacio/Belize City

    Transfer to Belize City by way of inland lagoons and rivers. On the way, stop at the inland Blue Hole and Gales Point Manatee. Accommodation at city hotel.

    Belize City / Lamanai/ Belize City

    Transfer to the Northern Highway to board the river boat and then travel down the New River. While traversing the many little creeks and lagoons where orchids, bromeliads and wildlife abound, it is easy to encounter hawks, kites and falcons. At the entrance to the New River Lagoon, the ruins of Lamanai rise into view.  While touring this site, huge masks depicting dead rulers and gods seem to materialize out of the rainforest amid the chatter of birdlife and the haunting call of the howler monkeys. Depart via river to your bus and return to your city hotel.

    Belize City/Cayes/ Belize City

    Morning departure by motor boat to the nearby manatee breeding grounds. You are almost certain to see one or several of these docile and protected sea mammals. Goff’s Caye is another seven miles to the east and this small island is perched right on Belize’s Great Barrier Reef, a true picture postcard tropical paradise. Snorkel off the pristine sandy beach with your instructors for that wonderful “Cousteau Experience”, or swim in cool waters, or relax under a palm tree. A beach picnic lunch and refreshments are served. (Snorkel equipment is included.) Return to the city hotel.

    Exit Belize City

    Morning at leisure, then a private transfer will take you to to Belize International Airport in time to connect with your flight.
