    Arrival in Thimphu

    Welcome to Bhutan! Our guide will greet you at Paro International Airport and transfer you to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, over 1.5 hours driving time. After a short rest at the hotel, we will take you to visit the National Memorial Chorten. Actually it is a stupa to honor the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Every day local people particularly senior citizens gather there to chant and circumambulate. After that we schedule the gigantic Buddha Dordenma Statue, Takin Sanctuary, Zilukha Nunnery and Thimphu Dzong for you. Touring all those places, you will get an overall idea on Bhutan's architecture, religious, tradition and national animal. Thimphu Dzong is a large ancient fortress, now houses administrative offices and temples.

    This morning you will visit the Tango Monastery. Actually it is a Buddhist Institute, considered to be the premier university for Buddhist learning in Bhutan. Hiking up to the monastery takes you around 1.5 hours. Once at the top, you are rewarded with great view of the surrounding mountains, countryside and deep blue sky. In the afternoon, we schedule the Thirteen Traditional Arts and Crafts School, the Folk Heritage Museum, National Library and the Traditional Paper Making Factory.

    Thimphu - Punakha

    After breakfast, we will drive you to the former capital of Bhutan - Punakha. On the way stop at Dochula Pass with an elevation of 3150 metres. It is a place with spellbinding scenic beauty. From here you can see the snow peak of Himalaya in a clear sky day. The 108 Stupas or Chortens here also increase the beauty of the Pass, and give an excellent photo opportunity. Next stop is Chimmi Lhakang, a small temple located in a hillock. The beautiful surrounding rice fields and villages make your way up to this small temple. People go here to pray for having children or for their wellbeing. After that we continue driving to Punakha Dzong. Built in the 17th century, it is the second largest and the second oldest Dzong of Bhutan. Many of nation’s momentous ceremony were held here, including the grand Wedding of the King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and his fiancé, Jetsun Pema in 2011. Close to this Dzong is the longest iron suspension bridge in Bhutan.

    Punakha - Paro

    Today we will transfer you to Paro, which takes around 3 hours by road. The first attraction you will visit in Paro is Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), a very imposing dzong overlooking Paro valley. Like many other dzongs in Bhutan, Paro Dzong also combines government offices with religious functions. On the top of the hill above the Dzong, is the Ta Dzong. It was the watch tower of Paro Dzong, now it is the National Museum housing over 3000 exhibits.

    Paro - Haa Valley - Paro

    Today you will come to visit the Haa Valley after more than 2 hours driving from Paro. It is a pristine and charming place, like a small township with traditional Bhutanese houses dotted around the valley. Haa valley is not so frequently visited by tourists, but it is an awesome place to spend your time in peace away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. Take a river side walk, go out for hiking around the valley, tour the Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple) and Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple) and visit the central bazaar of Haa Town.

    Today's private tour in Paro Valley starts from Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), the most sacred site in Bhutan. It is located about 900 meters high above the Paro Valley, like a gecko perching on the cliff. Every traveler comes here will be astonished by its splendor. Hiking up to this monastery takes you around 2 hours. It could be quite exhausted, but the stunning view along the way up may eliminate your tiredness. Afterwards, you will visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, a small and beautiful temple with peaceful atmosphere. It is said that the Kyichu Lhakhang is the oldest monastery in Bhutan, dating back to the 7th century.
