Arrive in exciting Las Vegas, America’s entertainment capital. Here we will spend two nights at the center of the glittering “Fremont Street Experience” at the luxurious Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino, within easy walking distance of a wide variety of other casinos, dinning and attractions. We will have our trip orientation “get together”, then the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure for relaxation, shopping, exploring on your own, or enjoying the free entertainment presented on Fremont Street, plus time to test your chances at the gaming tables or slot machines.
This morning we depart this morning for the Hoover Dam that includes a tour of the Power Plant. The Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated one of America’s Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders. We depart back to Las Vegas where we enjoy a highlight tour of the famed “Strip”, homes of the stars, and the Ethel M Chocolate Factory. After a late afternoon free, our evening features a delicious dinner, followed by a captivating musical and comedy review or magic show performance that is sure to delight, plus a drive featuring the lights of Las Vegas’ incredible “Strip”, home to fabulous resort hotels adorned with dazzling lights seen nowhere else! Along the “Strip” are battling pirates, an erupting volcano, visions of the world’s great cities, plus a giant pyramid and expertly choreographed fountains.
Heading northeast from Las Vegas this morning, today’s itinerary centers around magnificent Zion National Park, where the Virgin River has cut a dramatic rugged gorge through multi-hued sandstone, shale and limestone. From the floor of the canyon we will look up at the towering rock walls as we tour aboard open-air sightseeing community. This evening, our “Chuckwagon Cookout” comes complete with live Western entertainment and a fun-filled, participatory demonstration on how a Western movie is made.
One of the highlights of our tour is a full-day trip to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. From Bright Angel Point, Cape Royal, and Point Imperial, the highest point on the canyon rim, there will be opportunities for incomparable views of this gaping chasm, about one mile deep and then miles wide. Those who have visited the more-heavily-traveled South Rim will be surprised to discover that the views and environment are distinctively different here, while in September and October, the golden fall foliage of the aspens adds to the stunning scenic vistas. Tonight, enjoy dinner at Houston’s Trail’s End Restaurant, plus evening entertainment that is sure to delight.
Today we will appreciate the famed “Pink Cliffs” of awesome Bryce Canyon National Park, where vividly-colored, fantastic rock forms approximate castles, temples, even whole cities sculptured in stone. We will experience the park’s wonders form such scenic overlooks as Rainbow, Farview, Bryce and Inspiration Points. This afternoon we will visit magnificent Cedar Breaks National Monument en route to St. George for our overnight stay at the hotel. A “farewell” evening begins with a tasty buffet dinner and features a professional performance of an all-time favorite “Broadway” musical, surrounded by the “red rock” canyon at the outdoor Tuacahn Amphitheatre.
Our sightseeing concludes this morning with the historic St. George Mormon Temple and Brigham Young’s Winter Home, plus a scenic drive through the impressive Virgin River Gorge. We will soon return to Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport to connect with our homeward flight.
