20 Days Tour of Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar - Selenge - Amarbayasgalant monastery - Bulgan - Murun - Sebirian Taiga - Khuvsgul lake - Khorgo extinct volcano crater - Terkhiin tsagaan lake - Taikhar rock - Monastery Erdene-Zuu - Karakorum city - Khongoryn Els sand dunes - Bayanzag - Flaming Cliffs

Day 01: Arrival in Mongolia
You will go to Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia by air. Ulaanbaatar is not only a modern city of strong prairie style but also the largest city of Mongolia. On arrival there, you will firstly head for the hotel and check in, then you can arrange the rest time of the day freely.


Day 02: Selenge
Early in the morning, you will travel north from Ulaanbaatar to Selenge Province. Due to the long distance, the lunch will be enjoyed during the way there. In Selenge，47% of the land is meadow; 2% is grassland for cutting; 8% is plowland and the rest 43% is covered with forests. Hence, you can enjoy beautiful scenery of grasslands and forests. Late in the afternoon, you will reach the tourist camp.


Day 03: Amarbayasgalant Monastery
After breakfast, you will go and visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery. Amarbayasgalant Monastery is not only a place of antique beauty but also solemn and of large space. It is surrounded by grasslands and marmots can easily be seen nearby. All these contribute to a magnificent Amarbayasgalant Monastery. You will arrive there in the morning and therefore see numerous monks praying. After lunch, you can walk around Amarbayasgalant Monastery and enjoy the excellent view there. In the evening, the dinner will be served at the camp.


Day 04: Bulgan
Today, you will leave the camp for Bulgan. Again, you will have you lunch on the way because of the long distance. On the way to Bulgan, you will show around local floras and faunas and visit the families of local nomadic tribes. You will rest in tent at night.


Day 05: Murun
You will continue your way to the north in the morning. On the way to Khuvsgul province, you will visit the Mongolia’s natural region of coniferous forests. In this region, you can also see kinds of wild animals. Besides, you will visit people of the local nomadic tribe and chat with them so as to get a basic knowledge of their life. You will have both lunch and dinner in the region of pure nature and spend night in tent as well.


Day 06: Sebirian Taiga
Today, you will ride across the region of coniferous forests. Coniferous forests are zonal vegetation of the cold temperate zone. They are the forests that are distributed closest to the North Pole. Therefore, the northern boundary of coniferous forests is actually that of all the forests. Species of animals in coniferous forests are limited. They are mainly those of strong resistance to cold whether and of wide adaptability. Going across the region, you can enjoy distinctively spectaculars landscape. Late in the afternoon, you will ride to Mongolia’s top tourist attraction Khuvsgul Lake and stop at the local camp to have dinner and stay overnight.


Day 07: Khuvsgul Lake
You will spend the whole day touring and walking around Khuvsgul Lake. Khuvsgul Lake is close to the border of both Mongolia and Russia. It is the largest freshwater lake in Mongolia and is honored as “the blue pearl of the east”. As Mongolia’s top tourist attraction, Khuvsgul Lake is also one of the country’s four largest parks. Both lunch and dinner will be enjoyed in the camp.


Day 08: Khuvsgul Lake
Today’s activities will still be carried out in Khuvsgul Lake. What is different from the previous day is that you will have horse riding in the tourist area of Khuvsgul Lake and experience the delight of galloping on the wide grassland. In addition, you will also go to the birches near the Lake and watch the reindeers there. Then you can fish by the Lake.


Day 09: Region of Coniferous Forests
Today, you will enter the region of coniferous forests again and view high mountains, forests, trees, wide grasslands and running streams. The box lunch will be served on the way and you will also have an opportunity to visit the local nomadic families.


Day 10: Khorgo Extinct Volcano Crater and Terkhiin TsagaanLake
You will visit two spots this day. Firstly, you will ride to and visit Khorgo Extinct Volcano Crater which is as deep as 200 meters. Then you will visit the TerkhiinTsagaan Lake of extremely beautiful scenery. The lake is the country’s best place for bird watching and fishing.
