11 Days Journey of Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar - Gobi desert - Orkhon valley - Khongoryn Els sand dunes - Bayanzag - Khustai National Park

Day 01: Arrival in Mongolia
You will arrive at Ulaanbaatar by air, the capital of Mongolia. Upon arrival, you can take a short excursion to visit the Gandan monastery, which is the most important temple in Mongolia, and the Mongolian National Museum.
Day 02: Ulaanbaatar - South Gobi
You will go to the South Gobi by air. After arrival, you will take a bus to the Yol Canyon which is also known as Eagle Valley. The canyon which sun doesn’t shine upon is situated in Gurvan Saikhan Mountain. Rocks surround both sides of the valley. When you look up to the sky from the bottom of the valley, you can often find eagles circling around in the sky. As the rock blocks off the sun, the temperature in the valley is always relatively low.
Day 03: Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes
Today, you will take a bus to go to the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes, which is the largest and also the most magnificent sand dunes in Mongolia. Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes is known for its famous singing sands and you will have an opportunity to appreciate the charm of the singing sands. Borders are created between the magnificent sand dunes by the thick green trees and grass. You will enjoy your tour here by walking or sliding on sands. Meanwhile, you will also have a visit to families who raise camels and it also provides you an opportunity to feed these “ships of the desert” with your own hands.
Day 04: Bayanzag
In the morning, you will go to Bayanzag by bus. Bayanzag is famous for its red sands, rock, bush, sunshine and Cemetery of Dinosaurs. Everything here was discovered by the American archeologist Roy Andrew Chapman. Now there has established a museum to show everything discovered here, which makes Bayanzag world-famous. You will spend the whole day here and explore all the discoveries.
Day 05: Middle Gobi Province
You will take a bus to Middle Gobi Province and stay there overnight. At the same time, you will have a view of the remains of the Ongi Temple.
Day 06: Orkhon Waterfall
Today’s tour will begin with the visit to the Orkhon Waterfall. The waterfall has a drop of 20 meters and it was formed after the volcano eruption about 20,000 years ago. It is a fantastic place for hiking surrounded by the quiet and uncultivated nature. You can also enjoy the quietness and the pleasure of walking bring by the beautiful nature.
Day 07: Kharkhorin
In the morning, you will drive to visit the relics of the capital of the once-powerful Mongolia Empire. As the Mongolia Empire was very strong at the time, Kharkhorin became the most famous and prosperous metropolis with millions of population in the contemporary world. After Mongolia Empire collapsed, the Chinese army of the Ming Dynasty set fire to the city and the fire lasted for a whole 25 days. Although the city was rebuilt later, there are only these relics remaining at present. Along the way, you will also visit the Tuvkhun Monastery and the relics of Erdene Zuu Monastery, where the Mongolian Buddhism develops.
Day 08: Ogii Lake
Today, you will take a bus to Ogii Lake, another quiet and lovely place in Mongolia. Upon arrival, you can walk along the lake bank or ride horses to take the rare chance to enjoy the prairie life.
Day 09: Ulaanbaatar
Today you will return back to Ulaanbaatar. You will stay overnight at the Khustai National Park. Khustai National Park is the best center for raising and reproducing Mongolian wild horses in the world. Here you will see the rare Mongolia wild horses. Meanwhile, you will not miss the beautiful natural sceneries and various wild animals here either.
Day 10: Ulaanbaatar
You will arrive in Ulaanbaatar at noon. After lunch, you will pay a visit to the Bogd Khaan Winter Palace Museum. This Museum is not only a local place of interest, but also an important station for outdoor education. It was originally the winter palace for the Mongolian Living Buddha Jebtsundamba. The residence for the Living Buddha and the Queen as well as presents sent by heads of different countries is still remained in the palace. In the evening, you will enjoy the local traditional dances and folk performances at the dinner time.
Day 11: Departure from Mongolia
The whole morning is free on your own. After lunch, you can transfer to the airport by taxi and board the homeward flight. This is the end of the wonderful trip to Mongolia.
