17 Days Trip of Laos: Chiang Rai - Pakbeng - Luang Prabang - Plain of Jars - Vang Vieng - Vientiane - Bolaven Plateau

Day 01: Arrival in Chiang Rai
Upon arrival in Chiang Rai, one of the Thailand cities, you will head for Mekong. There, you will take a boat trip to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the bank and greatly relax yourselves.
Day 02-Day 03: Pakbeng - Kamu Ecolodge
Early in the second morning, you will across the border of Thailand and get into Laos by water of Mekong. Along the way, fantastic views will come into your eyes. Tonight, you will lodge in the tranquil countryside Pakbeng. Then early on the third day, you will leave for Kamu Ecolodge, a place of unexploited ecological nature and culture. In Kamu Ecolodge, you will have an opportunity to communicate with the local people and get to know their traditional life style like fishing and rice planting. It can be treated as a valuable experience of the ecological life.
Day 04: Kamu Ecolodge - Luang Prabang
After the visit in Kamu Ecolodge, the boat will continue to sail down the Mekong River. On the way, you will pay a visit to the beautiful Pak Ou Caves which is said to have a history of more than 400 years. The walls inside the Caves are carved with over 3,000 Buddha statues. You will also visit a tribe village. Then go on your way until arrive at Luang Prabang, a famous ancient city and Buddhist center of Laos.
Day 05-Day 06: Luang Prabang
You will spend the following two days in the ancient city Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang is a small mountain city with antique beauty and has a history of more than a thousand years. The well preserved natural ecology, Southeast Asian custom and colonial style makes this city a paradise for the western tourists. During the two days, you will get to know the local culture by visiting numerous historical sites, characteristic markets, peaceful temples, etc. ThSisavangvong and Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre will also be your destinations. Besides, you will get a face-to-face communication with the local monks. Then, you will visit the famous Kuang Si Falls and enjoy the popular local activity petanaue.
Day 07-Day 10: Plain of Jars - Vang Vieng
In the following four days, you will drive across the mountainous region of Southern Loas and get into the Plain of Jars. The Plain of Jars is a place of many mysteries. There, you will visit the noted Stonehenge which is called, together with the United Kingdom Stonehenge, Chile Boulders Portrait and South America Golem Circle, as the “World’s Four Stone Mysteries”. The stone jars have been proved to be traced back to 2,500 – 3, 000 years ago. However, no one knows where the stone jars came from, who created them and what they were created for. You will then proceed to the idyllic small town Vang Vieng. Vang Vieng owns only two streets. Like other Lao towns, the buildings along the streets are either of low French building style or local feature. In this town, you can appreciate Karst scenery usually seen in limestone regions. In addition, you will have a kayaking trip to visit lots of grottos.
Day 11-Day 12: Vientiane
On the 11th day, you will head for Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. Vientiane is a city of slowest living pace all around Asia. In the language of Lao, Vientiane means ‘a city of sanders’. It is told that Vientiane used to be a place rich in sanders. Vientiane is also a city with long history and strong Buddha atmosphere. Therefore, you will pay a visit to plenty of temples there, including the famous Wat Pha That Luang, Patuxai Monument, the National Historical Museum and Wat Haw Pha Kaew.
Day 13-Dya 17: Pakse - Bolaven Plateau - 4000 Islands
Upon arrival in Pakse, a southern city of Laos, you will straightly go to visit the Bolaven Plateau. Bolaven Plateau is a place of relative low temperature. There, you will visit coffee plantations, vigorous tribe villages, ancient temple remains and the gorgeous Tad Fane Waterfalls. Then, you will head for 4000 Islands. If you are lucky, you will see Irrawaddy dolphin. The odd Wat Phou Temple is also a place you will visit next. On the last day of the whole journey, you can plan your activities and time freely. Lastly, you will transfer to the airport and fly out of Laos.
