Shanghai Side Tour

• Itinerary

• Day 01
  Entry Shanghai

  Our TCG tour guide will wait for you at the airport according to your flight schedule. Then, you will be transferred to the hotel and dinner is on your own. If time allows, our guide will lead you to visit the Bund area and the pedestrian Nanjing Road. Otherwise, taking a cruise along the Huangpu River by yourself, you could have a glimpse of the yesterday and today of Shanghai. On one side of the river is the bund, which is regarded as a landmark as well as the birthplace of Shanghai. With a length of 1 km, the bund is dotted with various grandiose, solid buildings of western style dating back to the early 20th century. Thanks to these towering buildings, the bund is reputed as "an international exhibition of architecture". Comparing with the west part, east of the bund displays a thriving Shanghai before you.

• Day 02
  Shanghai/ Suzhou

  Humble Administrators Garden, Suzhou

  Take the soft seat train to Suzhou and transfer you to the hotel to have a brief rest period first. Today you will get to know the Chinese Garden culture. Chinas gardens generally can be divided into two kinds: the royal garden, represent by Summer Palace in Beijing and Mountain Resort of Chengde, and the private garden, represent by private gardens in Suzhou, such as the Humble Administrators Garden.
  
  Then, you will have a visit to the Tiger Hill, which is entitled as "the most famous place in Wuzhong", Tiger Hill, also named "Surging Sea Hill", "Surging Sea Peak". According to records or the historian, three days after the burial of Wu King Helu, people found a white tiger was squatting on the tomb, hence the name Tiger Hill.
  
  Meanwhile, a stop at the delicate Garden of the Master of the Nets is worthwhile. The garden was laid out during the Song dynasty (960-1279), abandoned, and then restored in the 18th century as part of the residence of a retired official. It was said that the official announced that hed had enough of bureaucracy and would rather be a fish man. Hence its name comes.  (B, L)

• Day 03
  Suzhou/ Zhouzhuang/ Shanghai

  Zhouzhuang water town

  Take car to visit Zhouzhuang, the No. 1 Water County of China, including the Hall of Shens residence, the Milou Tower and the Chengxu Taoist Temple. Known as a collection of beauty of Chinas water town, Zhouzhuang, like a lotus on the water, is surrounded by rivers as Nanbeichi, Houxiang, Youcheyang and Zhongshi. Transfer back to Shanghai and transfer to the hotel. • Day 04
  Shanghai

  Today you will visit Oriental Pearl TV Tower. You will feel the modern wind from it. The designers magically set the eleven beautiful spheres of various sizes up from the green grassland to the blue sky with two giant spheres shining like two rubies. The whole design is rich in poetic and pictorial splendor, which gives the tourists the impression that pearls of various sizes are dropping onto the emerald plate.
   
  Moreover, you will see the treasures displays in the Shanghai Museum to enlarge your knowledge. Around noon, a palatable a la carte lunch will be serve at a fancy local restaurant. You will not miss Yuyuan garden, either. Built in a style that Suzhou gardens often take, Yuyuan garden is characterized by an exquisite layout, beautiful scenery and artistic architecture. Each pavilion, hall, stone and stream in the garden can express the quintessence of South China landscape design from Ming and Qing dynasties. (B, L)

• Day 05
  Exit Shanghai

  Visit the Jade Buddha Temple, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. (B)
