The wonderful Huangguoshu Scenic Spot, renowned for its grand, imposing and massive waterfalls, is located 45 kilometers (about 28 miles) southwest of Anshun City, Guizhou Province. This large cluster of waterfalls features the Huangguoshu Waterfall in the middle and is a marvelous spectacle of nature.
Last Update : 2006-10-16 15:54:25: The area surrounding this scenic spot is a typical karst terrain. Additionally, the Baishuihe River flows to form the nine-step cluster of 18 waterfalls among which Huangguoshu Waterfall is the grandest. Xiniu Tan, the pond into which the waterfall pours, is accessible. Standing by the pond, tourists can be closer to the natural spectacle. The Water-Curtain Cave behind the waterfall is a fabulous spot from which the waterfall can be watched, heard and touched. The view from this amazing spot is particularly stirring at sunset. In addition to the Huangguoshu, there are over ten waterfalls and water-eroded caves along the Baishuihe River, which have many beautiful stories behind them waiting for your visit and approval.

In front of the Dragon Palace, there is an alpine lake surrounded by steep cliffs and towering rocks. It is called 'the Heavenly Lake' and it is the source of the stunning forty-meter high underground waterfall in front of the palace cave.

Dragon Palace Scenic Area, located 27 kilometers (17 miles) southwest of Anshun City and over 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from Huangguoshu Waterfall, is the second most famous attraction in Guiyang. It is a wonderland of limestone caves, underground waterways and waterfalls.

Unlike other mountain caves in China, the Dragon Palace is actually a group of five successive water-eroded caverns connected by an over 3,000-meter-long (about 1.9 miles) underground stream, nearly 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) of which has been opened to the public. Tourists can take a boat trip through each cave and appreciate the various stalactites, rock formations and stone pillars as if they were taking a trip to the legendary crystal palace where the Dragon King lived in the sea. The narrowest part of the cave is only two meters (6.6 feet) in width and the highest point can reach over 80 meters (262 feet).
