The mountain is famed for its marvelous natural relics from the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). In the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), the White Cloud Mountain took up 5 or 6 of the Eight Spectacular Scenes of Yangcheng (an alias for Guangzhou City). When the wind blows on the mountain, the sound it makes through the nearby vast expanse of pine forest is like boiling waves. People called this amazing natural phenomenon the Pine-Wave. With several parks, gardens and villas established within it, the forest is also a tranquil place to relax.
Last Update : 2006-10-12 15:53:58: White Cloud Mountain is composed mainly of 30 peaks, among which Moxing Peak is the highest. The mountain won its beautiful name from the amazing sight of the white clouds wrapping around the peaks after rain. Climbing up the mountain, tourists can overlook the Zhujiang River and have a panoramic view of the city. Attracted by the wonderful sights on the mountain, many famous poets in Chinese history visited it and left lots of classic works here. White Cloud Mountain is a natural garden and summer resort. Visiting White Cloud Mountain allows tourists to experience a welcome respite from the busy and modern Guangzhou City.
